A Hudson Valley Bride asks,“I’m getting married for the second time. My son and his girlfriend have heen dating longer then my fiance and I have. I know her parents, great people. We’re getting married out of state, significant expense for them to attend. Should invite them?”

Dear Hudson Valley Bride, Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. In answer to your question, yes, you should invite them and allow them to decide whether or not to attend. If you’re pretty sure that it will be a financial burden, and/or you’re sure they’ll say “no,” then there’s another option. Call them and invite them to a “new family” dinner at your home and, of course, invite your son and his girlfriend.
